The hands, tools and imagination behind Custom Tikes Trucks.
From his workshop in the North East of England, Jay hand-builds each Custom Tikes Truck with precision and personality. Using genuine Little Tikes vehicles and brand-new SMMS parts, every build is stripped, repainted, rewired, and rebuilt from the ground up.
Part engineer, part artist, Jay’s known for his eye for detail, steady hands, and the knack for turning a simple plastic toy into a mini show truck that steals the spotlight.

Everything you need to know before you start your Custom Tikes Truck build.
How long does a build take?
Most builds take around 2 – 4 weeks, depending on options and paintwork. Fully loaded trucks with LED kits, beacons or drive conversions can take a touch longer. You’ll get regular updates and a message when your truck hits the bench.
Do you use genuine Little Tikes trucks?
Yes — every project starts with a brand-new, genuine Little Tikes donor vehicle from an approved supplier (SMMS). We strip it right down, rebuild it and replace any components that don’t meet our standard.
Can I choose my own colour or decals?
Absolutely. You can specify paint colour, decals, number plates, business logos or names. We colour-match paints and use professional vinyl so your truck looks like a real-world recovery rig.
What’s included in the base build?
The £400 base build includes a brand-new donor truck, functional recovery bed, structural reinforcement, professional assembly and standard detailing. It’s the foundation for all further upgrades.
Do you deliver outside the UK?
Yes — we ship worldwide via insured courier. Each truck is bubble-wrapped, boxed and protected to prevent transit damage. We’ll quote delivery separately once we have your postcode or country.
Can I add extras after I’ve ordered?
If production hasn’t started, yes. You can add LED kits, extra beacons, winches or decals. Once assembly begins we’ll advise what’s still possible — we try to stay flexible.
Are they safe for children to use?
Yes, when used sensibly. We ensure solid structure, smooth edges and secure wiring. Motorised versions are limited to around 4–6 mph and should only be used under adult supervision on level ground.
Can I display one indoors or at events?
Definitely. Many owners commission display-only builds for showrooms, garages or trade stands. We can fit non-functional lighting and permanent mounts for static setups.
Do you offer repairs or upgrades later on?
Yes — if you ever want to add new parts, refresh paint or upgrade lighting, you can book a workshop visit or return service. Existing owners get discounted upgrade pricing.
